FHUARC meeting at 8:00 PM, Henderson TN City Hall, 7-21-05
Attending: Kevin Roeder, Joe Loucka, Ron and Beverly Means, John
Adams, Bill Baldly,
Barry Smith, Mike and Louise Burkhead, Adam Harris, Tim Jorgensen
(KE4EKI, son-in-law to W4KRU) and Richard England, Sr.
The minutes of the June meeting were read and approved.
A financial report was presented by Barry Smith, treasurer. It was
suggested by Ron Means that the $500 donated to the club by John
Rickard for repair of the beam he had previously donated be placed
into an interest bearing account. No special action was taken on
this matter. In connection with this same subject, Kevin said he
wanted to get the antenna put some place other than at his house. No
suggestions were made about this, either.
There is a new weather page on the FHUARC web site. The club web
site also has a good bit of other updated interesting information.

Club dues are now due for the new year.
There will be a test session on July 29 and one on August 23. Anyone
wanting to take an exam for any level of license is welcome to be at
the Gardner Center at FHU at 7:00 PM.
The motion was made by Barry Smith for the club to suspend Dan
Crump’s dues while he is on active duty overseas. Motion passed. It
was also decided to send him a “care” package. Those wanting to
contribute some items for this can bring them to the Gardner Center
at FHU on July 29 at 7:00 PM. For more information as to what to
bring, contact Bill Baldly or Kevin Roeder.
Joe Loucka gave a report on a 40 meter receiver (it actually covers
6 to 19 MHz) kit building project for the September club meeting. If
you want to build one of these kits, contact Joe Loucka ASAP or come
to the August club meeting ready to order yours. The cost is $39.
The plans are to build, or at least begin building, the kit at the
meeting. Another meeting will be dedicated to checking them out for
proper operation. Questions? Ask Joe.
Ron Means made a presentation on home installation of ham radio
equipment including certain safety precautions.
At next month’s meeting, John Adams (K4QQ) will discuss how to
properly handle “traffic” on ham radio nets.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:15 PM
