This is being sent in a separate e-mail message. The other message we
too long to include this update in...
A lot of progress has been made on the ARES Bus. (Mobile Emergency
Communication Vehicle). The interior of the bus is now freshly painted
and has been cleaned up nicely. A little more painting will be done in
certain areas inside, but, the bulk of it is now complete. Thus, we can
begin working on measuring, drawing off and designing the cabinets,
counters, tables, equipment racks, etc., that we need to install. This
is where all of the ARES members come in! I need and welcome all of
your suggestions , ideas, input, and most of all, assistance!
This part of the project is "ours." I would like for everyone to help
me brainstorm and plan at tomorrow's Field Day. Then, we will set up a
schedule to get the hands-on work done.
Here is what has happened with the bus so for:
1. Repaired shorted wiring harness and replaced glow plug relay.
2. Replaced two front tires and repaired one rear tire.
3. Painted interior
4. Serviced (LOF) engine and chassis
5. Purchased 5kw generator
6. Wired interior for AC power, installed inverter/circuit breaker
box
7. Installed roof top air conditioner and heater
8. Mounted 2-meter/440 radio and antenna
9. Mounted HF antenna brackets
The ARES Bus is now road ready, safe and reliable for travel and use.
We need to get the interior furnishings complete and it will be good to
go. As for the outside, plans are to paint it in the future. However,
this will be the last step in the conversion process. Available funds
are being spent on mechanics and interior readiness first.
