[W4FHU] APRS Request

Following is a request that I received from a fellow ham. He asked me to
work on the APRS station at Freed or, at least, get my station back on
the air as it would be a good way to keep up with his son, etc. Perhaps
his plea will light the fire!

Hello,

My name is Allen Griffith and I have a son at FHU who is equipped with
APRS. I do like to keep informed about his travel in that area. The
Jackson, Tn. Digi and the I-Gate do a pretty good job fin Jackson and
most travel North of the university but poor around the university and
South, East and West.

I have noticed the fine antenna arrays on the Gardner Center. It seems
to be a pretty good location with considerable height.

I am asking you to consider installing an APRS digi and possibly an
I-Gate for the FHU area. Surely there are a few hams in your club that
are involved with APRS and would like the challenge of putting together
an APRS digi and or an I-Gate.

Thank you for your consideration,

73,

Griff....N5AG
