Hello Hams,
Tonight provides an excellent opportunity to receive new, or refresher,
training for ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) with the Advanced
Storm Spotter Training Class from the National Weather Service. It is
important that each ARES member stay up-to-date on their training.
This keeps each of us mentally fresh on the proper terminology and
procedures to use when storm spotting for our community. Not to mention
the safety issues involved.
We did not have a large turnout of our club or ARES members at last
year's training. I hope this new "Advanced" class will encourage you to
attend this important and interesting training session.
I will be at the building early setup with a table for you to come by
and update your ARES information that I have on hand. I will also have
forms for any new Amateur Radio Operators who would like to join our
Chester County ARES program. This is an important program that tends to
be forgotten about as we have been lucky enough over time to not have to
use/activate it here in Chester County. However, our records and
training must remain updated so the District Coordinator and myself will
know who is willing and available to assist in a time of emergency and
what current operating equipment/capabilities you have.
Thank you for supporting our local Chester County ARES program. I look
forward to seeing each of you tonight at 6:00pm.
73,
Ron Means
W5DAT
Emergency Coordinator,
Chester County ARES
